The news business has been in constant transformation since the internet broke its business model a decade ago. In a world that values scale and high margins, one of the toughest nuts to crack has been local news. Jim Brady has been exploring new local storytelling and business models for almost 20 years at companies like The Washington Post, AOL and Digital First Media. He recently launched a local startup in Philadelphia called Billy Penn, and he'll discuss how he's applying new local content and revenue strategies in a world increasingly focused on civically-minded millennials, mobile and social platforms and event- and membership-based revenue models.
